"Webster’s wonky tale of murder and revenge has a feral charm and a poetic vivacity that manage to spellbind in the capable hands of the BlackSun Theatre Company...I will henceforth see anything with David Fensom or Trudy Hodgson in it... this is an excellent production well worth your time and money, "

    David Hermann for Extra! Extra!

" This is a tremendously committed, energetic and talented young cast. This production is clever, well-played, intelligently directed, and certainly worth the trip to the White Bear "

Sam Miller for UK Theatre Net

"...Julia (Rose Romain), the Cardinal’s wife is a scarlet woman, literally and metaphorically, and we relish her interaction with the hired assassin Bosola, played by James Rose."

   Barbara Lewis for The Stage

" Black Sun’s cuts are intelligent and retain elements from some scenes which usually vanish in fringe versions, so that’s a bonus! The production is fluid and well-paced, so what is a fairly long evening passes pretty rapidly!"

  John Buckingham for Audience Club

"The production manages to bring out the humour of a 17th century text and not shy away from its leaden metaphors and fantastical means of killing your enemies / loved ones. There's a great scene of the Duchess being institutionalised, left with mad people for neighbours in an effort to turn her mad by her brother Ferdinand - excellently rendered here by Black Sun's chorus who also elicit lots of fun from minor characters such as various dukes and doctors."

   Claire Cook For The Londonist
